About this service
If you have a basic question about your health, you can ask online and a New Zealand-based GP will provide you with a personal answer within 24 hours, free of charge.
Simply submit your questions via UniMed Wellbeing and one of the carefully selected New Zealand general practitioners will provide a personal answer within 24 hours. It’s an easy and confidential way to get more information or to determine your medical next step.
Independent and confidential
The Ask a GP service is powered by Teladoc Health which means that this service is independent and confidential. We will never see any of your communication with or results from your Ask a GP session unless you choose to send it to us.
When to use this service
Ask a GP is for simple questions about your health.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency and need urgent attention, please call 111.
Who is eligible
Ask a GP and other UniMed Wellbeing services are available to all Accuro policyholders who hold a Hospital and Surgical plan.* There is no additional cost involved to use this service and you can access it as many times as you like.
How to register
- Go to the "UniMed Wellbeing" portal, powered by Teladoc Health, and register or log in.
(Note: If you have used this service before, you will need to reset your password.) - Select “Ask a GP” from the service options.
- Submit your question through the portal. A GP will reply by email, usually within 1 business day.
- Have a follow-up question? Submit it in the portal again – often the same GP will respond.
- Ask as often as you need – there’s no limit to the number of questions.
Ask a GP is for non-urgent queries only and does not replace urgent or emergency care.
*Hospital and Surgical plans are by default on the following Accuro products: SmartCare, SmartCare+, StaffCare, StaffCare+, KidSmart, SmartStay, Major Medical Plan, Real Value Plan.
