The New Zealand Council of Trade Unions (NZCTU) joined Accuro in 2004, 17 years ago.

NZCTU subsidises health insurance for their staff. Providing hospital and surgical cover as well as every day health care for physiotherapy, chiropractor, optical, natural health treatments, flu vaccinations and more.

We asked the team at NZCTU for their thoughts and insights into why they chose Accuro, why they have stayed with us and what value we bring to them and their staff.

We choose Accuro for our staff health insurance because of their founding principles and worker friendly society values. Also as a not for profit – they put their members first.  In an ideal world we would not require private medical insurance, but when the CTU decided to undertake this for staff, Accuro was the obvious choice.

All staff at CTU are encouraged to join and existing staff in the scheme actively promote the benefits of joining.  It is heavily subsidised by us – and is part of our Collective Agreement.

The ability to get timely medical advice and support regardless of the condition (mostly) is of great value. It takes less time for staff to get the support that they need and means that they can take less time away from work.

For those who are considering taking out health insurance for their staff, I would support Accuro being the first choice.
