What is underwriting?

Our health insurance plans are designed to provide cover for any health conditions that arise after your policy has started. Underwriting is the process of assessing the information that a member provides in their application form about any existing or past health conditions, symptoms or signs. Depending on this information, our underwriting team may request additional details regarding your medical history with respect to any pre-existing conditions and exclude these from your policy.

It is very important that you tell us about any health conditions or potential health conditions when you are filling out your application.

Pre-existing conditions

A pre-existing condition is any sign, symptom, health condition or health event that happened before your started your policy with us.

During the process of underwriting, any pre-existing condition may be excluded from your policy, which means you are unable to claim for any medical treatment related to it. Different medical conditions have different exclusion periods. We will let you know about any exclusions that may apply to your policy and their duration before your membership is finalised. We also have a set of general exclusions that you can read about here.
